About James Wundrak I Archery Performance Coach & Doctor of Physical Therapy

James Wundrak, PT, DPT
Husband | Father | Outdoorsman | Archery Performance Specialist

I’ve watched a lot of archers quit the sport they love. Not because they lost interest, but because their body gave out first.
A shoulder that aches after every session. A back that tightens up on day two of a hunt. Draw weight they had to drop because stability at full draw just isn’t there anymore. I saw it constantly in the clinic and on the range and it bothered me because most of it was preventable.
The problem wasn’t that those guys were weak or old or past their prime. The problem was that nobody had ever built a training program specifically for them. They were handed generic fitness routines or told to rest and stretch. Nobody was screening their draw cycle, addressing the specific demands of holding at full draw under pressure, or building a program around what archery and hunting actually require from your body.
That’s the gap I built Top Pin Performance to fill.
I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy and an archery performance coach. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.S. in Exercise Science, then earned my doctorate at Bellarmine University, where I trained in evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. I’ve spent years in the clinic working with people recovering from injuries, rebuilding strength, and getting back to the things they love.
I’m also a competitive archer and a bowhunter. I shoot the same bows, hunt the same terrain, and feel the same physical demands you do. That combination, clinical training and time in the field, is what makes the programs here different from anything else you’ll find. I specialize in strength, mobility, and injury prevention for bowhunters and competitive archers.
My goal isn’t to have you dependent on me forever. I want you to understand your body, train it right, and keep shooting for as long as you want to. Whether that’s competing at the highest level or packing into the backcountry every fall, I’m here to help you get there and stay there.
